Kenpsych's Seitenruder Mod

I came across your website before I ordered my EasyStar and liked how others were modifying it. I decided to fly it first in stock form. I looked at the rudder and noticed how small it was and realized that little performance would come from it. After flying it once with the stock rudder, I realized that it needed to be changed fast. I had some trouble turning the plane in a tail wind and got scared due to the loss of control. Being an “intermediate flyer” I wanted some good performance out of this EasyStar so I took a rudder from my crashed 3D plane, an “Accord II” from NE Sail. As you can see it’s pretty big. The performance of the EasyStar is incredible now. I can perform just about any maneuver! Plus with the big red tail, it’s hard to loose your orientation.

I simply trimmed the top of the Foam tail and check for proper clearances and taped the new rudder onto the foam tail. The rudder is balsa covered with Monocoat. I needed to trim the rudder left because the thickness of the tail does not match the rudder. It looks and flies great! I’d encourage all EasyStar fliers who want a high level of turning performance to do this mod or similar!
